An overview of the insuator production process at Phoenix

Process Chart

The basic elements involved are FRP rod, METAL fittings, SILICONE rubber. The basic MACHINES involved are PULTRUSION & PULWINDING machine for FRP manufacturing, CRIMPING with AE detector machine for METAL fittings crimping, RUBBER processing machine & MOLD for molding. FRP rods are cleaned and bonding agent is applied over it. After 25 -35 minutes they are taken for the metal fittings crimping process. The crimped FRP rods are kept inside the die and Silicone compound is charged over it.

After the desired curing time component shall be ejected from the die .Then the flash and the runners are trimmed manually. Then Insulators are tested for visual, crimping strength and High voltage testing. They are packed and kept in the storage area.
